david bowie black tie - sosostris2012

13, 871 words and no end in sight.

8 or 10 scenes to go.

On the other hand, I am developing a deeply sardonic version of "Leaving on a Jet Plane," because apparently that song offends me too strongly to be left undeconstructed. It makes me want to smack that lying narrator right in the lying mouth.

So what comes out is kind of... acoustic cowpunk, or something, as was06066 once memorably described The Cowboy Junkies.

Except, you know, unlike The Cowboy Junkies, I suck.

The Pixies!

The Pixies would do an amazingly sardonic version of Leaving on a Jet Plane (Unlike the Liz Phair version which is just Liz singing the song)

Lying narrator - hee hee.

Very funny. I've never heard that song desribed that way, but I guess there is something to it. Sure, now that she's leaving, she decides the affairs she's had "don't mean a thing." You probably would have enjoyed when Imus in the Morning and had a plane crashing sound play at the end of the song.
I can't say anything to you're playing, but no, Cowboy Junkies do not suck.

At all.

Definitely a pheromone eddiction at work there. I agree.

It took me until quite recently, actually, to understand that sometimes singers *did* understand just how screwed up the songs they were singing or the characters they were portraying were. I think teenagers are almost all essentially devoid of a sense of irony.

It's the only thing I can think of that explains the popularity of Guns N Roses.
